Growing up, I always wanted to know where my family came from. As a descendant of slaves, I never imagined I would be able to.
I thought that knowing more about my heritage would help me understand who I am.
After taking a DNA test, I felt no more connected to the U.S. or any nation that showed up in the “ethnicity estimates”
